In a New Zealand first and for a limited time, Asahi Beverages NZ is bringing the Asahi Super Dry self-foaming draught beer can to Kiwis.

Nama Jokki, which translates to ‘fresh beer mug’, is iconic Asahi Super Dry premium beer sealed in an innovative can that releases a silky foam when opened at the right temperature.

The self-foaming is caused by a non-uniform surface inside of the can that causes bubbles to form naturally when the lid is opened. These bubbles rise to the top, forming the foam head that helps lock in freshness and taste, similar to an Asahi Super Dry on tap. The can lid lifts off completely to reveal a smooth edge, creating an open vessel that can be drunk from directly.

Freeing the foam from a Nama Jokki will be a new experience for most. To get the Asahi Super Dry draught beer experience It’s simple really – just chill in the fridge until the can is between 4 and 8 degrees, then gently pull off the lid by pulling the tab towards you. Finally, watch the foam rise and then drink straight from the can. If it doesn’t foam immediately, you just need to warm the can slightly in your hands which will take it to the ideal opening temperature.

The can’s patented “double-safe” design ensures smooth edges when opened but it is important that consumers do not forcefully pull the tab to open the lid. The innovation behind Asahi Super Dry Nama Jokki took four years to develop in Japan and is part of Asahi’s aim to “deliver on our great taste promise and bring more fun to life” by offering innovative products.
